Based in Hong Kong, Ingles provides coverage of the major macroeconomic stories and trends that shape markets and affect businesses in the Asia Pacific region. Linda Lam Mei-sau

Ms Linda Lam Mei-sau, SBS, has been the Chairperson of the Equal Opportunities Commission (EOC) since 11 April 2024. She takes charge of the Commission’s efforts to eliminate discrimination through the enforcement of the anti-discrimination ordinances and promote equality of opportunities and the value of inclusion in the community.
Ms Lam had a distinguished career in the Department of Justice that spanned 29 years. She was appointed as Crown Counsel in 1994 and had worked in various posts in different legal divisions of the Department of Justice. She was promoted through the ranks to become Principal Government Counsel in 2018. In 2021, she was appointed Law Officer and held the position of Law Officer (International Law) until 2022. In her position as Law Officer (International Law), she provided legal advice on the international law aspects of a wide range of government policies, including the implementation of bilateral and multilateral international obligations, trade and investment law, and the management of consular corps and their privileges.
Ms Lam was called to the English Bar (Gray’s Inn) and the Hong Kong Bar in 1991. She was also admitted as an advocate and solicitor in Singapore in 1993.

Prof. Christine Loh, SBS, JP, OBE, is the Chief Development Strategist at the Institute for the Environment, Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST). Previously, she held the positions of Special Consultant to the Office of the Chief Executive of the HKSAR Government on the ecological civilization aspects of the Greater Bay Area Outline Development Plan (2019-2020); and Under Secretary for the Environment in the HKSAR Government (2012-2017). She was the CEO of Civic Exchange, an independent non-profit public policy think tank (2000-2012). Before that, Prof. Loh served as a member of the Hong Kong Legislative Council, first appointed in 1992 and later elected in 1995 and 1998. Earlier, she spent 14 years in the private commercial sector in commodities trading.
Currently, she is a Director of New Forests Pty Limited, Towngas Smart Energy Company Limited, CDP Worldwide, and Global Maritime Forum. She is also a founding Advisor to Hong Kong Green Finance Association.

Fiona joined The Women’s Foundation as CEO in September 2017, combining her senior leadership experience with a passion for TWF’s mission to serve marginalised women and girls in Hong Kong. A former lawyer and Hang Seng Index company secretary, Fiona has lived in Hong Kong for over two decades having cultivated a career as a senior legal professional and adviser to a number of leading corporations in Hong Kong and around Asia.
She is the Co-Founder of Room to Read's Hong Kong Chapter and helped establish the Regional Programme office in New Delhi, India. She is a Director and former Deputy Chair of the Australian Chamber of Commerce Hong Kong, and was Founder and Chair of its Women in Business Network.
Fiona has received numerous accolades for her work including the "Outstanding Achievement" award for the Women in Business Law Awards Asia 2020, Non-Profit Leader of the Year at the AmCham Women of Influence Awards 2021 and Tatler’s Front & Female Hong Kong Awards 2022.

Karndeep Singh, a Young Ally, is a local-born Indian who is currently pursuing a bachelor's degree in economics and finance at the University of Hong Kong (HKU). Karndeep has held various leadership roles and is nominated as the Alumni Manager of his alma mater, HKMA David Li Kwok Po College and as the Vice President of the Alumni Association of his primary school.
In 2022, Karndeep was awarded the Student of The Year Award - Best Devotion to School by the SCMP for his dedication in organising activities for his schoolmates during the pandemic and bringing changes to his school as the student union president. As someone who loves taking up new opportunities, he participated in The Women's Foundation (TWF)'s ground-breaking Young Allies Programme and has been serving as a volunteer at Caritas for almost a year. Combining her insights and experiences in both branding and elderly services, Queenie established The Project Futurus in 2019 to transform the way people perceive aging through advocacy, education, community service, and impact program design. Queenie established “Captain Softmeal” (軟餐俠) to raise awareness on dysphagia health and created an immersive dim sum program “Sensory Restaurant on Wheels” (流動五感大茶樓) to deliver the joy of dim sum dining for elders living with dementia. Queenie is responsible for the rebranding of “Culture Homes” and Nordic-inspired senior community “Forward Living”.

George Chen is a practitioner/scholar with over two decades of expertise across media, technology, and public policy. Currently, George is Managing Director (Head of Hong Kong and Taiwan Offices) and Co-Chair of Digital Practice for The Asia Group, advising Fortune 500 clients on geopolitics, national security, and regulatory issues. Prior to this role, George was Meta/Facebook's first and most senior policy leader for Greater China, Mongolia and Central Asia for over seven years having previously served in various editorial and management positions for media organizations for more than a decade. George is also a Senior Fellow of Centre for Civil Society and Governance at The University of Hong Kong (HKU).

Bonnie Y Chan was appointed the Chief Executive Officer of HKEX on 1 March 2024.
Ms Chan brings more than 30 years of global capital markets leadership and expertise. She has played a leading role in supporting the transformation of Hong Kong’s listed market and infrastructure, enhancing market quality, attractiveness, and efficiency, and helping position HKEX as a leading global exchange group.
Ms Chan has held leadership roles in legal and financial services with Asia-Pacific and global responsibilities. Before becoming CEO, Ms Chan was HKEX’s Co-Chief Operating Officer, where she oversaw the Group’s key operational and strategic functions. Ms Chan first joined HKEX as Head of IPO Transactions in 2007 from Morgan Stanley, where she spent four years leading the legal function for the investment bank’s Asia capital markets business. She rejoined HKEX in 2020 as Head of Listing, after serving as a partner at international law firm Davis Polk & Wardwell focusing on capital markets between 2010 and 2019.

Co-founder in 2010 of the all inclusive pleasure positive intimate lifestyle shop Sally Coco, Vera Lui has been instrumental in changing attitudes towards sexual matters in Hong Kong, particularly in more conservative sectors where sex education is limited or non-existent. Her frank and often humorous videos answering common questions and reviewing intimate toys have garnered 22 million views on YouTube and over 106K subscribers. She was the driving force in launching the Women’s Festival at Eaton Workshop in 2018, an annual festival and platform exploring social topics from a female perspective. Armed with a master degree in Buddhist Counseling and certification in Sexuality Education, Lui brings a unique perspective to her work, blending compassionate counseling with comprehensive sexuality education to support and empower individuals in their personal journeys.
She is an active guest lecturer at Chinese University of Hong Kong, Saint Francis University And Hong Kong University for their gender studies courses. She has also been invited to be a speaker for TedX CUHK, Prestige Women of Power Summit and countless talks and workshops for various organizations for the past 13 years. Her teaching and sharing covers topics from intimacy and relationship, sexual pleasure, insight on the fem/sex tech, self love, sex and body positivity and of course women empowerment.

As Markets 360 APAC Coordinator, Jason is responsible for coordinating joint economic and strategy research efforts and views in the region, across all asset classes and all countries, ensuring effective communication both internally and externally to our clients. He also works closely with sales management on a variety of client engagement events across APAC as well as regional and global roadshows for Markets 360 strategists and economists.
In addition to his role as Markets 360 APAC Coordinator, Jason also serves as Head of Global Equities for Markets 360 APAC, leading his team to generate trade ideas, thematic views, and bespoke analyses for the APAC equity markets. He is actively involved in developing the equity derivatives market with major Asian exchanges by participating in exchange-hosted industry working groups and conference panel discussions.

Henry Tse

Transgender Equality Hong Kong
Henry Tse is a transgender man from Hong Kong who is best known for successfully overturning the Hong Kong-wide inhumane policy requiring “full sex reassignment surgery” for changing one’s ID card gender marker, through 2 judicial review lawsuits from 2017 to 2024.
As an LGBTI+ rights activist, his specialisation has been in strategic litigation and gender recognition legislation, in order to systemically improve the lives of the transgender and LGBTI+ community. Henry is the founder and chair of Transgender Equality Hong Kong, a community-led charity that aims at bridging the knowledge gaps in the LGBTI+ rights movement, creating impactful campaigns, and serving transpeople who are the most disadvantaged. He has extensive experience in local and international LGBTI+ human rights work, such as the UN human rights mechanisms, and large-scale community research.
Henry is the 2018 Community Business Transgender Inclusion Champion, a 2023 TIME Next Generation Leader, 2023 Tatler Gen.T Honouree, the recipient of the 2023 Prism Award issued by the Hong Kong Gay and Lesbian Film Festival, and a Pam Baker Human Rights Scholar of the LLM (Human Rights) Programme at the University of Hong Kong. He also delivered a very well-received TEDx talk in 2023.

Shalini Mahtani is a leading voice on women in Asia, and on diversity and inclusion. She is founder of The Zubin Foundation, Community Business and one of the founding board directors of The Women’s Foundation, Hong Kong. She has published widely on women in the workplace including the groundbreaking Women on Boards reports in Hong Kong and Mumbai, Gender Benchmarking of women across Asia and Women Leadership in Asia. She has successfully changed public policy relating to women by mobilising private sector support including the Hong Kong Stock Exchange to impose diversity requirements on listed companies and Hong Kong employers to adopt a five-day work week. She is a qualified accountant and serves on government, university and NGO boards. She believes that to effect gender equity, multisector collaboration is critical. Shalini has numerous Accolades including a Medal of Honour from the Hong Kong SAR Government, an MBE from Queen Elizabeth II, Humanity Award from the Hong Kong Red Cross.
Shalini is a Hong Kong ethnic minority who overcame significant personal barriers to obtain a university degree. Shalini has obtained her education and executive education at LSE, Harvard, Yale and Lee Kwan Yew. Shalini is married with three children.

Paul is currently the Director of Human Resources of The University of Hong Kong. Prior to this, he was the former Group Head of Human Resources of Hong Kong Exchange before becoming the Founder and CEO of Twoplus Consulting which specializes in leadership development, diversity, equity and inclusion, company culture and HR strategy. Prior to Hong Kong Exchange, Paul has spent almost 20 years at Goldman Sachs as Managing Director in Human Capital Management division. Paul spent his early careers as a business and IT consultant in Andersen Consulting, an officer in Credit department of JP Morgan Trust, and also re-engineering consultant for Industrial Bank of Japan in New York and London for its merger and acquisition transition into Mizuho.
He has also been advising senior executives of corporates and non-profit organizations in the areas of management development, executive coaching, team building and group dynamics, talent assessment, diversity people strategy and management, succession planning, corporate culture, HR and people strategy and change management. Paul has deep expertise in multinational corporates especially in the financial services sector across Asia Pacific, non-profits, and small business organizations. She is an accomplished fitness professional and an athlete representing Hong Kong in Muay Thai Fitness and has placed first in her category for bench press at the Hong Kong Powerlifting Championship.

Alyson is an accomplished freelance Master of Ceremony, MC-ing for mega events like the Torch-Relay of the Beijing Olympics, Hong Kong International Film Festival and the International Chinese New Year Night Parade. She is a proud mother of 3 young girls, aged 7, 5 and 1.

Paul is the financial services tax leader for Hong Kong and Asia-Pacific Financial Services Business Tax Services Leader at EY. With over 25 years of practical taxation experience and knowledge, Paul advises on all aspects of corporate tax issues relating to both local and multinational financial services clients including asset management companies and banks.
Paul is part of a number of associations and committees including: Honorary Adviser and member of the Taxation Committee for CPA Australia – Greater China, Fellow member of CPA Australia; Co-chairperson of the Tax Committee of the Alternative Investment Management Association Hong Kong; Member of the Mainland Opportunities Committee of the Financial Services Development Council; and Member of the Taxation Committee of the Hong Kong General Chamber of Commerce (HKGCC) as well as their Coalition of Service Industries Executive Committee.
Paul holds a Master of Taxation Degree from the University of Sydney.

Tze-wei Ng is a lawyer with the private wealth team of Stephenson Harwood based in Hong Kong, specialised in charities law and advising on philanthropic structures and ESG integration for families. She also advises on trust and legacy planning, family governance, family office set-up, wills and probate. She is passionate about working with families who want to use their wealth impactfully for social and environmental causes, or leave a legacy through art and philanthropy. She is also committed to supporting charities and social enterprises through her pro bono work or board director roles. She is currently board director of Resolve Foundation, the mission of which is to build a more inclusive Hong Kong, and HER Fund and Hong Kong Federation of Women's Centres, both pioneers in empowering women and girls. She is also a board member of GA!L – the Global Alliance of Impact Lawyers, an international network of lawyers focused on legal advisory with sustainability in mind.
